FirstService Residential: Support Friends of Karen by Adopting a Family Whose Child is Facing Life-Threatening Illness this Holiday Season
October 20 @ 9:00 am - November 5 @ 5:00 pm UTC-5
Are you and your colleagues interested in helping families living in the New York tri-state region who are coping with the catastrophic impact of their child’s life-threatening illness? If so, read on!
For over 10 years, FirstService Residential New York has been participating in the Friends of Karen Adopt-A-Family program for the Christmas and Hanukkah holiday season. The team has helped the lives of over 450 children by bringing them joy through holiday gift giving.
What is Friends of Karen?
Friends of Karen provides a range of financial, emotional, and advocacy support for families living in the New York tri-state region whose children are facing life-threatening illnesses. The Friends of Karen program helps families that have financial issues with medical treatments, medical bills, household expenses and so many other illness-related issues that put a great deal of stress on the parents of these children. Finding the time and money to buy holidays gifts (even minimal) adds to their stress.
How does the Adopt-a-Family Holiday Program work?
Each child submits their $50 “wish list” for toys, books, music, clothing, gift cards or something else. Each child will also receive a $50 Visa, MasterCard, ShopRite, or Stop & Shop gift card for their holiday meal, totaling $100 per child. Donors choose how many children they would like to adopt for the holiday season.
How can you help?
If you are interested in participating, please let Mandy Shafer (Mandy.email@example.com) know by November 1. You will need to let her know how many children you plan to adopt by November 5. Here’s how it works? One child would = $100, 2 children = $200 and 5 children would = $500.
Mandy needs a complete list by November 5 so she can coordinate with Friends of Karen who will provide her with children’s names, ages, and the life threatening disease they are suffering from along with the wish list(s) for each child. The children’s sponsors then shop for the items and drop them off FirstService Residential New York’s HR Department by December 1.
Drop off address: 622 Third Ave, 15th Flr | New York, NY 10017
A group of FirstService Residential associates will personally deliver all donated items to Friends of Karen in upstate New York.
