As the Summer of Service program comes to a close, recognition is being given to FirstService Residential’s North Region for the extraordinary impact associates have made through community engagement. Across Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Illinois, Minnesota, and New York, teams have gone above and beyond to bring care, compassion, and hope to individuals and families in need.

At the heart of these initiatives are the Impact Collective leaders and the North Region Impact Collective, who champion causes and rally associates to get involved. Their leadership, combined with the dedication of associates who give their time, energy, and resources, has created meaningful change throughout the region.

Fighting Food Insecurity

In Ontario, the North Region Office team, alongside colleagues from FirstService Corporation and the Ontario team, volunteered at Knights Table in Brampton, supporting individuals and families facing food insecurity. Volunteers prepared and served lunch, stocked the food bank, and assembled hampers, creating an immediate and meaningful impact.

In Minnesota, on-site associates and residents at Excelsior & Grand continued their annual tradition of supporting STEP, the local food shelf in St. Louis Park. With resident leadership, the initiative collected and distributed over 26 bags of food, reinforcing the power of community partnerships.

Associates from the Bloomington office also contributed to global hunger relief by volunteering with Feed My Starving Children. Working alongside other community volunteers, the group packed an astonishing 42,120 meals, enough to feed 115 children for a full year.

In addition, the Illinois team also volunteered at their local Feed My Starving Children, helping pack nutritious meals for children in need. Through teamwork and a shared sense of purpose, their efforts contributed to the organization’s work to fight child hunger and extend hope to vulnerable communities across the region.

Supporting Children and Families

The North Region’s commitment to children and families was evident throughout the year. Through the Summer of Service program, the Ontario team partnered with the CHUM Charitable Foundation’s Christmas Wish to organize a “Christmas in July” toy drive. This initiative, launched to address a toy shortage, invited associates to donate new, unwrapped gifts for children in need, with a focus on babies and teens.

In British Columbia, associates partnered with Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, dedicating their time to a spring cleanup project that prepared the grounds and gardens for families and patients. The team’s efforts were further amplified when the BC office hosted a Preferred Vendors Trade Show, which raised an incredible $27,598 in support of Canuck Place’s vital services.

Health and Wellness Initiatives

The Ontario team organized a Walk for Cancer in support of the Canadian Cancer Society, raising $19,465 for prostate cancer research. This event united associates in both fitness and fundraising, reflecting the incredible impact that can be achieved when working together.

In New York, associates showcased their dedication to health advocacy in remarkable ways. At the 2025 Big Climb at Citi Field Stadium, the team raised $33,250 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by conquering 2,500 steps. Their efforts brought hope to countless patients, survivors, and families. The New York team also participated in NAMIWalks, raising $16,151 for mental health programs and services.

Meanwhile in British Columbia, associates laced up their sneakers for the Vancouver Sun Run, promoting healthy lifestyles and team spirit while engaging with the broader community.

Giving Back in Unique Ways

Across the region, associates found creative ways to give back. In Alberta, teams partnered with both the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARFS) and Habitat for Humanity, lending hands-on support that ranged from kennel cleaning and puppy playtime to facility organization and improvements.

In Minnesota, associates showed their support during Women’s History Month by collecting professional attire for Dress for Success Twin Cities, empowering women re-entering the workforce with confidence and career-ready wardrobes. They also spent time at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, hosting a pizza and bingo night that brought joy, laughter, and connection to patients undergoing cancer treatment.

One Team, Big Impact

The breadth and depth of these initiatives highlight what makes FirstService Residential’s North Region truly special: a spirit of compassion, teamwork, and service that extends well beyond local communities. Whether climbing stadium steps in New York, walking for cancer in Ontario, or packing meals in Minnesota, associates prove time and again that together, extraordinary things can be achieved.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Impact Collective leaders, the North Region Impact Collective, and every associate who stepped forward to make a difference. Their passion, generosity, and commitment to community embody the very best of FirstService Residential’s values and the spirit of One Team.
