When you give to the FirstService Relief Fund, you’re doing more than donating money—you’re supporting a community that shows up for one another when life gets tough. Whether it’s unexpected medical costs, disaster recovery, or other personal hardship, your generosity helps fellow team members get back on their feet.
Why Your Donation Matters
Every contribution — big or small — plays a part in transforming uncertain moments into real relief. And since FirstService Corporation covers all administrative costs, 100% of your donation goes directly into meaningful grants for those in need.
Tax Benefits for Donors in the U.S.
Here’s the good news for tax season:
- The Relief Fund is run through the Emergency Assistance Foundation (EAF), a 501(c)(3) public charity with Tax ID 45-1813056. That means in the United States, your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law when you itemize your deductions.
- For documentation:
- Payroll deduction donors can use their end-of-year pay stub along with their enrollment form as proof for tax filings.
- If you give by check, a canceled check suffices for gifts under $250; for $250 or more, EAF will send a written acknowledgement.
- Credit/debit card donors can use their card statement for gifts under $250, and will receive an acknowledgment for larger amounts.
Heads up: EAF doesn’t send out a year-end summary letter, so plan ahead to save your receipts and records.
For Donors in Canada
While U.S. donors enjoy federal tax deductions, donors in Canada may be eligible for tax credits under Canadian rules—but tax benefits vary by province, so it’s best to check with your own tax advisor.
Grants Are Tax-Free for Recipients
An added silver lining: for grant recipients in the U.S., the financial assistance provided by the Fund is typically considered tax-free grants, so your gift supports people when they need it most without adding tax stress to their plate.
In Gratitude
Thank you for your generosity, whether it’s a monthly contribution or a one-time gift. Your support not only provides financial help—it strengthens the spirit of the FirstService community. Every dollar truly counts.
