Children’s Harbor Day of Service
On Friday, July 21 — one of the hottest days on record in South Florida — 20 dedicated volunteers gathered at Children’s Harbor in Pembroke Pines, FL for a day of service. The team included members from various departments within FirstService Residential, including Dania Beach office, South Region heart of house, Condo HOA, High-Rise, and FirstService Financial.
Children’s Harbor is a nationally accredited organization that provides a safe place and support for at-risk children, youth, and families, with a focus on keeping siblings together, strengthening families, and guiding youth towards independence. The location they visited was one of six residential homes for teenagers in the foster care system.
Despite the sweltering weather, the volunteers worked tirelessly. They cleaned and reorganized the center’s storage garage, trimmed trees, and cleared branches from the property. The team was fueled by plenty of Gatorade, ice, and water to keep them going.
Susan Musson-Babb, Director, Human Resources for FirstService Residential was one of the volunteers that day, “I had the opportunity as part of our 2023 Summer of Service initiative to spend time at Children’s Harbor. It was an eye opening and rewarding experience to learn from Tiffani Dhooge what Children’s Harbor is, and what really sets them apart in accomplishing their mission of keeping kids safe, helping families heal and shining a light back into the lives of children who have been impacted by the trauma of child abuse. I look forward to future opportunities to spend time making a difference with the with the Children’s Harbor team.”
The day of service not only made a positive impact on the physical spaces but also provided an opportunity for colleagues from different departments to collaborate and build relationships. Check out the slide show below to see our team members in action!
Folly Beach Clean Up
FirstService Residential associates in South Carolina recognize the importance of clean beaches and coastlines in providing a rejuvenating escape for people. During a recent Summer of Service initiative at Folly Beach, they dedicated four hours to clean up trash and debris. Their efforts not only helped enhance the beauty of the area, but also ensured the safety of beachgoers and marine life, including helping sea turtle nests remain obstacle-free for hatchlings to reach the ocean safely. Big thank you to Jackie Bull, Vera Hannaford, Melissa Rigsby, Lola Vincent, Dana McKasty, David & Sandra Martinsen, Ally Burnett, Kelli Baker, Katie Lowe and Chloe Runnion for their hard work!

I’d like to give a shout out to my co-worker Chassity Murphy! There have been too many instances where this young lady has been a blessing to my day. Although she’s short in stature her energy, joyful disposition and her overall nature as a person is just big and beautiful. She is loved by the residents, their children and even their pets!! She’s not perfect at everything so when she and I work together WE BALANCE EACH OTHER OUT. I’m literally a few years shy of being twice her age, so we make a great team!
The residents often tell us they love when they see the two of us working together because they know it’s going to be a good productive fun day! That means a lot and it speaks volumes in so many areas. I sincerely love working with this awesome young lady and hopes she continues to shine bright for First Service Residential because she’s a great inspiration for me to be and do my best everyday. AS ALWAYS…JOB WELL DONE CHASSITY!

I have given blood occasionally for years, and I work with ImpactLife here in Missouri. Last week, I tried my “arm” at donating platelets for the first time. I do this to honor my dad’s memory, who was a champion blood donor in his day. I’ve given whole blood and double red cell donations in the past, and I’ll continue to do so as long as my health allows. It’s such a simple way to truly make a difference. Our St. Louis branch of First Onsite hopes to schedule a blood drive, along with the help of our local chamber, very soon too!
