Walking Beside Families Through Loss: Organizations Bringing Hope and Healing

No family should have to navigate pregnancy or infant loss alone. Learn how Rachel’s Gift, Pockets of Light, and the Griffin Cares Foundation are bringing comfort, hope, and healing to grieving families—and discover simple ways we can all support those experiencing unimaginable loss.

Rachel’s Gift, Providing Compassion from the Very Beginning

Founded by parents who experienced pregnancy and infant loss themselves, Rachel’s Gift partners with hospitals nationwide to provide memory-making keepsakes, bereavement resources, staff education, and ongoing grief support. Their mission is to ensure every baby’s life is honored and every family receives compassionate care during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.

One of the organization’s signature events is the Angel Dash series of memorial races. Guided by the inspiring theme, “We Dash So Our Angels Can Fly,” these family-friendly 5K runs and walks bring together parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, healthcare professionals, and supporters to remember babies gone too soon. Families often participate wearing shirts featuring their baby’s name or photo, take part in remembrance ceremonies, and find comfort in connecting with others who truly understand their journey.

Pockets of Light: A Lasting Reminder of Love

Pockets of Light provides thoughtfully curated comfort items and remembrance gifts that offer families tangible reminders of the love they share with their babies. Through keepsakes, support resources, and compassionate outreach, the organization helps grieving parents know their child’s life mattered and will always be remembered. Their work reminds families that even the smallest life can leave a lasting light.

Griffin Cares Foundation Supports Families Through Healing

The Griffin Cares Foundation is dedicated to supporting families facing pregnancy and infant loss by helping expand access to bereavement resources, family support programs, and community education. Through partnerships, fundraising, and advocacy, the foundation works to ensure families receive compassionate care and the emotional support they need throughout their healing journey.

Driving Hope Through the Fore Logan Charity Golf Outing

Community support plays a vital role in sustaining these organizations. One inspiring example is the Fore Logan Charity Golf Outing, which will be held on August 17 in Kenilworth, NJ. This event  brings together golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters to raise funds for both Pockets of Light and the Griffin Cares Foundation. More than a day on the course, the outing is an opportunity for families, friends, and community members to honor babies whose lives were far too brief while helping ensure other families receive comfort, remembrance, and compassionate care when they need it most. Through events like Fore Logan, participants transform generosity into tangible support that helps grieving families feel seen, remembered, and never alone. Supporting Someone Through Pregnancy or Infant Loss

Many people want to help a friend, coworker, or neighbor who has experienced pregnancy or infant loss but aren’t sure what to say or do. Often, the simplest gestures are the most meaningful.

  • Acknowledge their baby and their loss. A heartfelt “I’m so sorry,” or using the baby’s name if they’ve shared it, lets parents know their child is remembered.
  • Be present. You don’t need the perfect words. Sometimes just offering a listening ear can be the greatest gift.
  • Offer practical help. Prepare a meal, run errands, help with household tasks, or offer childcare for older siblings.
  • Remember important dates. Due dates, birthdays, and anniversaries can be especially difficult. A thoughtful message or card can mean the world.
  • Continue checking in. Grief doesn’t end after a few weeks. Reaching out months later reminds families they haven’t been forgotten.
  • Avoid minimizing the loss. Well-intentioned comments like “Everything happens for a reason” can unintentionally deepen the hurt. Simply acknowledging their pain is often the most compassionate response.

Small acts of kindness can provide tremendous comfort during an incredibly difficult time.
