Unexpected medical expenses are a very common reason people apply for grants through the FirstService Relief Fund. This month, two Grant Recipients share their stories with us.

“I applied for the grant because I suddenly had a dental emergency while my family and I were already dealing with money problems. When the grant came through, it was a huge relief and helped me take care of my dental issue without adding more financial stress. The grant had a really positive impact on my life. I’m able to focus better at work and I feel less stressed and worried.

“I applied for a grant to help with medical bills. Many medical expenses are not covered by insurance and can put you in deep financial stress if you don’t pay them. So this grant and others like it is beneficial to those that don’t have the funds to just pay off. This grant gave me breathing room so I can better focus on my work and personal relationships and figure out next steps. Overall I feel less stressed and worried and I am grateful to everyone who donated to the fund.”
