Steve Moody Named June Summer of Service Drawing Winner

Congratulations to Steve Moody, Sr. Account Manager with Century Fire Protection, our June Summer of Service Drawing winner!

As part of our Summer of Service program, every point earned by sharing acts of service, good deeds, and volunteer stories becomes an entry into our monthly drawing. Steve’s participation earned him the opportunity to direct a $500 donation to Shriners Children’s, an organization dedicated to providing world-class pediatric specialty care to children regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

“The Shriners are known throughout North America for their dedication to helping children. Their network includes 22 Shriners Children’s hospitals—19 in the United States, one in Montreal, Canada, and one in Mexico City,” shared Steve. “These hospitals provide specialized pediatric care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, regardless of a family’s insurance status or ability to pay, ensuring treatment is available to all families.”

Steve’s connection to the organization extends beyond making a donation. He serves as president of the Camel Herders Unit at Bahia Shriners in Central Florida, where he helps care for Sir Gus, the temple’s beloved camel mascot. More than just a crowd favorite, Sir Gus travels to parades, festivals, and community events in his custom transportation bus, delighting children with photo opportunities, his famous “camel kisses,” and plenty of carrots. Every appearance helps raise awareness of the life-changing care Shriners Children’s provides to children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip and palate, and other specialized medical needs.

For Steve, caring for Sir Gus is much more than looking after an animal—it’s a meaningful way to support the Shriners’ mission of bringing hope and healing to children and their families. Through the warmth and joy Sir Gus inspires, countless people learn about an organization built on compassion, service, and love.

Congratulations again, Steve, and thank you for embodying the spirit of #FirstServeOthers. We appreciate your commitment to serving your community and helping make a difference in the lives of children.
