Community Comes Together at FirstServeOthers Committee Blood Drive and Pet Adoption Event

The FirstServe Others Committee from FirstService Residential’s East Region, in Charleston, SC, hosted a successful blood drive and pet adoption event on June 1st at the Oyster Point community in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The event brought together community members for a day filled with purpose and fun.

Attendees enjoyed a variety of food trucks and refreshments from the Sparkle Bar. The event also featured two dedicated pet rescues, Dusty Tails and Southern Tails, both of which played a significant role in finding loving homes for seven dogs.

The blood drive was a big success, with 22 donors stepping forward to save lives. Each donation has the potential to save up to three lives, meaning 66 lives were positively impacted by the generous donors!

In addition to the blood drive and pet adoptions, the event also focused on supporting local charities. Gently used purses were collected to be filled with personal care items for My Sister’s House, a shelter for battered women in the Charleston area. Additionally, toys were donated to the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, part of the MUSC hospital system, bringing joy to many children in need.

“My team and I enjoy working together to create Social Purpose events and activities to involve the community. These events focus on multiple causes that we hope will resonate with each and every one in a way that they feel they are helping or giving back to not only their community but others that are in need. It’s such an amazing feeling to see these communities come together to support one another and an even better feeling to know that others care! FirstServeOthers sets the tone to show that we all have something in each of us to give back to the community.” Missy Rigsby, community manager at Regatta on James Island.

The event exemplified the spirit of community and compassion, demonstrating how small acts of kindness can make a significant difference.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this event a success.
