FirstService companies are coming together to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, whose mission is to grant wishes for deserving children facing serious illnesses.
When the chance arose to fulfill the wish of Rylee, a 10-year-old girl in Lexington, teams from CertaPro Painters and California Closets eagerly stepped in to help.
The project was a “big girl” room, and Rylee knew exactly what she wanted – right down to her color scheme. CertaPro first got to work prepping the space, patching walls, and painting the bedroom a fresh, bright white. Then, California Closets collaborated with Rylee and her caregiver grandmother to design her dream closet. Rylee even passed up Taylor Swift tickets in favor of the room makeover, showing just how much this project meant to her.
The result was a stunning closet system with hanging racks, drawers, and glass-fronted cabinets, eliminating the need for a bulky dresser in her bedroom. The addition of LED lighting, controllable via remote, allowed Rylee to customize the ambiance with just a click.
Rylee’s grandmother initially had reservations about removing the closet doors, but upon seeing the finished product, she was thrilled with Rylee’s decision.
On closet installation day, the team from California Closets took Rylee and her grandmother shopping to pick out curtains and other décor items for Rylee’s new room. As time for the big reveal neared, Rylee could hardly contain her excitement. She expressed immense gratitude for the hard work put in by the teams, and was eager to share her incredible new bedroom with her friends.
“Supporting Make-A-Wish on Rylee’s room makeover was such a rewarding experience. We enjoyed meeting with her to discuss and design the perfect closet for her, listening to what she wished to have in her own custom space,” said Kelly McGee, customer experience supervisor. “Seeing the excitement and joy on Rylee’s face when she saw it for the first time is a memory we will all not forget.”
This past autumn, CertaPro team members in Lexington were honored to participate in Wish Day at the historic Keeneland Racetrack alongside Make-A-Wish. This special occasion celebrated Wish recipients and raised funds for the Foundation. As part of the event, the CertaPro crew volunteered to escort Wish families to the Clubhouse, creating lasting memories together.
