Environmental Stewardship and Fellowship at the Don River Valley

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, volunteer teams from First Onsite, the North Region Team of FirstService Residential, Paul Davis, and FirstService Corporation joined forces for a day of environmental stewardship at the Don River Valley in Toronto. Spanning 30,000 acres – 10 times the size of New York’s Central Park – this urban sanctuary is beloved by nature and outdoor enthusiasts for its sprawling trail systems and rich biodiversity.

Volunteers tackled various tasks, including invasive species removal, tree planting, and garbage removal. All tools and supplies used that day needed to be carried down a winding trail to the work site. Water for the newly planted trees was collected from the Don River. At the end of the day, volunteers hiked back up the trail with tools and the collected invasive plant material.

Their collaborative efforts not only bolstered the preservation of this precious ecosystem but also strengthened the sense of camaraderie and shared responsibility amongst our sister companies.

This event, a cornerstone of our collective Social Purpose commitment, underscored the significance of our corporate engagement in environmental conservation. Through the dedication and teamwork of our teams, the Don River Valley received a significant boost towards a cleaner, greener future, leaving a lasting impact for generations to come.
