Here’s a look back at some recent Social Purpose events.
Lexi’s Poker Charity Fundraiser
Ed Getz, who we profiled as one of our People of Purpose for his commitment to the Alexis Kiser Foundation, shared the results of the 3rd Annual Lexi’s Poker Charity Fundraiser. He organizes the fundraiser to support the Alexis Kiser Foundation and the Sanctuary of North Georgia, two organizations devoted to improving the lives of individuals with special needs. The tournament brought together friends, family, colleagues and community supporters for an evening of camaraderie and friendly competition, all in support of two incredible causes. This year’s event raised $23,000, which will help expand services and support for individuals with special needs. Congratulations to Ed and everyone who helped make the night such a success!
A Visit with Impact: Giving Back to Paws4you
Earlier this year, FirstService Residential’s South Region office at Blue Lagoon in Miami hosted a laptop drive benefiting Paws4you, a local rescue organization dedicated to finding loving homes for animals in need.
The office worked with their IT department to offer associates the opportunity to purchase laptops for personal use. IT provided approximately 80 laptops to the Blue Lagoon office which were available on a first-come, first-served basis for a $5 donation each. All proceeds were donated to Paws4you.
Event organizer and animal lover Amber Daal, executive assistant, wanted to support an animal-focused organization so she selected Paws4you. Associates enthusiastically supported this drive, with many generously contributing beyond the minimum donation.
“Animals have always held a special place in my heart, so visiting the rescue and connecting with the dogs was incredibly fulfilling,” said Amber. “It was especially meaningful to share the experience with my colleagues while supporting animals that deserve love, care, and advocacy.”
Earlier this month, South Florida High-Rise President Hector Vargas and his team got to visit the facility where they received a tour, learned more about the organization’s mission, spent time with the animals and presented Paws4you with a donation in person.
Thanks for making a difference for animals in need and embodying our mission to #FirstServeOthers!
