In July, as part of FirstService’s Summer of Service campaign, FirstService Residential partnered with the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish for their Christmas in July initiative, supporting their goal of collecting 15,000 toys for children from low-income families.
To maximize impact, event organizer Temo Primrose Gare, coordinated donations from offices across the Greater Toronto Area, including FirstService Residential’s North Region Office, the Ontario market’s Toronto and Mississauga offices, eight of the company’s managed communities, FirstService Corporation’s Bay St. office, and sister-company Paul Davis. These efforts resulted in 1,306 toys collected and donated, making this effort largest donation from a single organization.
What makes this achievement even more special is that it wasn’t just company associates who contributed. Residents from eight of the company’s managed communities joined in, turning this into a true community-wide success.
For the overall campaign, CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish collected over 14,700 toys in July (just shy of their goal of 15,000) and raised over $65,000 in monetary donations. We played an important part in making this possible.
“I’m very excited to share that we received an award for the most toys collected for this initiative! Last night, at the wrap-up event, I was honoured to accept the award on behalf of the company,” said Temo. “A big thank-you to those who helped organize: Diane Fenton, Ali Abdullah, Jennifer Kennedy, and our colleagues at Paul Davis. While the award plaque proudly says FirstService Residential, it represents the incredible combined contributions of FirstService Corporation and Paul Davis as well.”
