F.I.R.S.T., The Foundation for Ichythosis and Related Skin Types, is dedicated to improving lives and seeking cures for those affected by ichthyosis and related skin types, or epidermal differentiation disorders. F.I.R.S.T. connects patients, caregivers, medical professionals, researchers and industry partners for support, education, resources, medical access, research and advocacy.
Ichthyosis (pronounced ick-thee-oh-sis) is a family of rare, genetic skin diseases characterized by dry, cracked, scaling skin that may be thickened or very thin. There is currently no cure for ichthyosis. F.I.R.S.T. is the only national non-profit foundation located in the United States dedicated to assisting families living with ichthyosis.
