Mission

The Corsage Project works in partnership with Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada to give the authentic prom experience to young women who may not have the opportunity to participate with their peers due to the high cost of formal wear. Through its scholarship program, the Corsage Project also helps local high school graduates achieve their post-secondary educational goals. Thanks to the Corsage Project, young women are able to attend their prom with a new dress, accessories and even a mini-makeover, providing them with memories they will cherish for years to come. Through the organization’s “Boutique Ball,” an event space is transformed into a giant shopping bazaar packed with hundreds of new dresses, purses, shoes, jewelry and pashminas. Corsage Girls are treated to a shopping experience complete with their own personal shopper to help them complete their prom look. They also receive goodie bags filled with gifts from generous sponsors. More than 400 volunteers support the effort and help with setting up the Boutique Ball, serving as stylists and personal shoppers, and assisting with tear down at the end of the event.
“I’ve been a volunteer for the Corsage Project for several years. I began as a volunteer working at the Boutique Ball, which is an event for girls to “shop” for their prom dresses. I loved being part of such a special day for them, and seeing their excitement was incredible. I wanted to get more involved, so I joined one of their committees. I serve on the retail committee which is amazing because I get to help source donations of shoes, dresses, and accessories. It’s a lot of work to pull this event together but worth every minute. It’s something I look forward to every year. Prom attire can be very expensive, meaning some girls miss out on this important occasion. I have fond memories of my own prom, and it’s so meaningful to me to help other girls experience theirs.”
