FirstService Residential: Donate to our Dallas90 Pet Supply Drive

Dallas Animal Services (DAS) works with local, regional, and national welfare organizations to ensure the most vulnerable animals are placed in the best possible homes. DAS network includes a range of partners, from dog/cat rescues, small animal and livestock sanctuaries, and wildlife rehab centers.

“Dallas90” is the most recent community outreach campaign launched by DAS to help care for the 35,000 animals they serve each year. “Dallas90” is designed to generate support in DAS’ effort to find positive outcomes for all healthy/behaviorally sound pets, which DAS believes exceeds 90% of the shelter population. FirstService Residential Dallas Office will host a Pet Supply Drive for DAS, collecting items like towels/blankets, treats, toys, kennels, leashes, and more.

The Drive will kick off on April 11, National Pet Day, and will run until April 30, National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, when the supplies will be delivered in person to DAS. It’s a fantastic way to help our furry friends!

California Closets: Join us for the Friends of Oakland Animal Services Half Marathon

The Friends of Oakland Animal Services, a nonprofit fundraising arm of the Oakland Animal Services Shelter, has formed a running team and will be running the Oakland Half Marathon, raising much needed funds and awareness for the shelter.  OAS is Oakland’s only open-admission shelter, and they do so much to help homeless, sick, and injured animals the San Francisco Bay Area! Morgan McGuire is a huge animal lover, and, since she can’t personally rescue all of the homeless animals, she tries to help in other ways.  She has volunteered for OAS since 2015, and has been a runner for a long time, so, when they announced this fundraising event, she had to say yes. The team has collectively already raised more than $8,000, and they are hoping to raise at least $12,000.  The money raised will help support the municipal shelter’s efforts to better care for thousands of animals each year in the face of Oakland’s ongoing budgetary challenges.  Donations of any amount are incredibly welcome and appreciated.

CertaPro Painters: Helping Homeless Pets Find Forever Homes

Looking for ideas on how to find your personal Social Purpose? Follow CertaPro Painters of Huntington Beach franchisee Pat Wade’s lead and identify a cause for which you have a passion, and then see where it takes you.

Following the loss of his beloved dog this summer, Pat, a lifelong dog lover, was inspired to make a donation to a local Labrador rescue. Through the rescue group he learned about Race For The Rescues, a 5K run / 1K dog walk and adoption day that raises funds for local animal rescues.

Race for the Rescues is sponsored by The Rescue Train a unique, 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill organization whose mission is to eliminate animal suffering and euthanasia through hands-on rescue work, dedication to spay/neuter, along with education and awareness programs. Funds raised through Race For The Rescues are used to help save the lives of homeless dogs, cats and horses and support their transition to forever homes where they will become cherished family members.

Now in its 13th year, Race For The Rescues is its largest annual fundraising event and has raised more than $4 million to help animals in need. 100% of its net proceeds support local animal non-profits. For the 9th straight year, Race For The Rescues has sent its adoption truck back to the shelter empty, with all of the adoptable pets having been placed in loving homes.

CertaPro Painters of Huntington Beach supported the event through a fundraising effort and a sponsorship that included a booth in the vendor area where the team enjoyed interacting with fellow animal lovers and introducing them to CertaPro’s services.

“Race For The Rescues is a great event for us,” said Pat Wade. “My wife and I are huge animal lovers, as are many of our team members, so to be able to give back to the community and meet other like-minded people was very rewarding.”

Pat and his family are continuing to #FirstServeOthers through fostering homeless dogs and have just welcomed foster pup Marley Mae into their home – another way they are following their passion and giving back to their community.

FirstService Residential: Volunteer Day at Friends of Cats

Associates from the San Diego office recently came together to show some love for homeless and unwanted cats and kittens at a local cat shelter. A “purrfectly” great day was had by all.
