On September 29, the FirstService Residential New York team braved the rain to join 40,000 community members at the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk. This annual event honors NYC Firefighter Stephen Siller’s heroic final steps through the Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, as well as the 343 FDNY firefighters, law enforcement officers, and thousands of civilians who lost their lives that day.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which provides mortgage-free homes and other vital support for first responders, catastrophically injured service members, and their families.
Thanks to their dedication, the team not only participated but also surpassed their fundraising goal, raising an impressive $6,590 for this meaningful cause.
In October, FirstService Residential New York team members participated in the Making Strides of Central Park event, raising over $2,000 to support the American Cancer Society’s research and advocacy efforts. The team included associates Yolanda Amparo, Dana Collins, Laurie Fiorella, Sandra Suro, Kelly Keleman, Colleen Kelly, Viah Salazar, Angel Polanco, Melissa Rivera, Marlene Romero, Linda Romolo, Dionne Stanley, Spencer Collins, Karolina Stawicka, Glendaliz Urena, Taj Washington, and Alissen Williams, along with family and friends.
Their participation underscores the team’s commitment to fighting cancer and supporting life-saving initiatives.
On September 18, a group of 21 associates from across the New York market joined forces for an environmental stewardship project with NYC Parks. The team spent the afternoon at Rapkin-Gayle Plaza Park, located at Grand and Lafayette Streets, removing weeds and invasive species, picking up litter, planting greenery, and spreading mulch.
Participants valued the opportunity to give back to the community while building connections with colleagues from other departments. For many, it was deeply rewarding to see the positive transformation of the park and to know their efforts made a tangible difference.
The Las Vegas-based National Customer Service Team also made an incredible impact by volunteering at Catholic Charities, where they prepared meals for individuals experiencing homelessness. Kathleen Milazzo, senior recruiter, shared her experience:
“The team’s efforts to provide meals for those in need highlight their dedication to service beyond the workplace. By coming together to support this meaningful cause, they helped nourish both the body and spirit of the community, embodying FirstService Residential’s core values of compassion and social responsibility.”
We’re inspired by the generosity, compassion, and teamwork of our associates in New York. Your efforts exemplify the power of Social Purpose and demonstrate the incredible impact we can make together. Keep up the amazing work!
