CertaPro and Floor Coverings Ante Up for the FirstService Relief Fund
Colleagues from CertaPro and Floor Coverings International share a competitive spirit and compassion for their team members. During two recent annual conferences, the companies each hosted poker tournaments to raise funds for the FirstService Relief Fund.
The CertaPro Jason Duke Memorial Poker Tournament, an annual event honoring the memory of a beloved colleague, raised $5,741.00 for the FirstService Relief Fund. 59 card sharks who work as franchisees, sales associates, painters and production managers participated in this spirited event. And the winner was: Trevor Nabess, a residential sales associate from CertaPro of Winnipeg West.
At the Floor Coverings International annual conference, the tournament raised $10,000 which was matched by the company for a grand total of $20,000!
Senior Director of Operations, New Franchise Development Jackie Adams came up with the idea for the event. “This event was born out of the FCI commitment to the FirstService Relief Fund. Our franchise owners and our vendors have embraced this event,” she shared. “We’ve run it three times and have donated an average of $18,000 each year – all generated in a four hour time span!
It’s worth noting that Floor Coverings commitment to the Relief Fund runs deep through the organization. In 2023 the team earned the distinction of being the only company with 100% automatic payroll donation participation!

We established the FirstService Relief Fund to help our team members during times of personal financial hardship brought on by a variety of unforeseen circumstances. Since it’s inception, we have awarded more than $1.3M in grants to team members. When you donate to the FirstService Relief Fund, 100% of the dollars you contribute goes to help a team member.
