A Unique Volunteer Day at the Toronto Zoo

On August 22nd, 34 team members from FirstService Residential Canada (North Region), LIVunLtd and FirstService Corp our team came together for a special volunteer event at the Toronto Zoo as part of this year’s Summer of Service initiative. That afternoon, participants rolled up their sleeves and dedicated their time to an environmental cause; removing invasive plant species and replanting native ones to help restore the zoo’s ecosystem.

“Our dedication and support not only contribute to the enhancement of local climate resilience in the Rouge Valley and the Toronto Zoo grounds but also underscore the vital role of collaboration in safeguarding the precious ecosystems for generations to come,” said event organizer, Nolia Feng from FirstService Corporation.

The Toronto Zoo is part of the Rough Valley, and the team played an important role in helping combat the spread of invasive species and promote the restoration of natural biodiversity within the Rough Valley.

“This volunteer event was not only a chance to give back to the community but also an opportunity for team members to bond while making a tangible, positive impact on the local environment,” said participant Temo Primrose Gare. “After the work was done, everyone had the chance to explore the zoo and enjoy the amazing wildlife.”
