Mission

Rotary is best known for its commitment to Service Above Self, bringing together community leaders to create positive change around the world. While Rotary’s service projects, humanitarian efforts, and community partnerships are well known, one of its most important investments is in the development of young people. Rotary Youth Exchange gives students the opportunity to live and study abroad while experiencing new cultures, languages, and perspectives. Local Rotary chapters sponsor Interact Clubs for young people 12–18 to develop leadership skills while serving their communities. Through Interact they identify local needs, organize service projects, and learn the importance of team work and civic engagement. The Rotary Youth Ambassador programs encourage young leaders to represent Rotary and promote service initiatives, while the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program empowers students through hands-on challenges, inspiring speakers, and leadership development experiences.

“I first got involved with Rotary when my daughter was starting high school. Supporting her as she helped relaunch the Interact Club at her school inspired me to take on a broader role, transitioning from our club’s Youth Services Chair to our district’s Youth Services Chair. Seeing young people gain confidence, develop leadership skills, and discover what’s possible has been one of the most rewarding parts of my Rotary journey. As a parent, one of the greatest gifts Rotary has given our family has been watching my daughter grow in confidence, leadership, and independence. Through Rotary’s youth programs, she’s built lifelong friendships, expanded her perspective, and developed skills that will benefit her for years to come. What keeps me passionate about Rotary is seeing the transformation in young people—not just my daughter, but students throughout our community. Watching them grow into confident, capable young leaders is incredibly rewarding, and knowing I’ve played a small part in that journey makes every hour worthwhile. When you inspire young people to serve others, you’re not just making an impact today—you’re creating a lifetime of compassion, leadership, and service that will continue to ripple through their families, workplaces, and communities for years to come.”
