Mission

Eden Food for Change is a community-based organization serving western Mississauga, Ontario with a mission to ensure everyone has access to good food. Through its food bank programs, Eden provides nutritious groceries to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity while treating every client with dignity and respect. In addition to food assistance, Eden’s Learning Kitchen offers cooking and nutrition education that helps people develop valuable food skills and build healthy eating habits. Through food access, education, outreach, and advocacy, Eden Food for Change works to create a stronger, healthier community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Their vision is simple but powerful: Good Food for All.

“I grew up on a farm and developed a lifelong appreciation for fresh, nutritious food. I’ve always believed that food security is a basic human right. As more families have turned to food banks for support during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to do what I could to help. Eden Food for Change does incredible work in our community, and it’s been personally rewarding to support their mission by donating fresh produce to the families they serve.”

How To Support

Donate

There are two ways to donate to Eden Food for Change. You may make a financial donation or donate food. Eden Food for Change serves over 1,200 low-income families every month through its Food Bank programs. Its Food Bank relies heavily on food donations to provide nutritionally balanced meals for community members. They accept a variety of non-perishable and perishable food donations.

Volunteer

Volunteer opportunities include assisting with food bank operations, which include sorting and packing food donations, stocking shelves, registering people as food bank members and picking up food donations and delivering them to food bank locations. Special events are held periodically throughout the year and these events rely on volunteer support. Volunteers are also needed to assist planning committees with the organization’s two large annual fundraisers.

Engagement Opportunity

The organization holds a variety of events throughout the year. The Learning Kitchen works to serve the needs of the Eden Community by providing the opportunity for people to improve their practical cooking skills. Corporate and community groups are able to participate in one-time cooking classes which produce enough for 200-300 meals for food bank members.
